La Pine Park & Recreation District Community School Program provides afterschool enrichment and recreation activities for La Pine's Middle School and High School students, in order to increase physical activity, increase test scores and improve civic engagement in our community.

High School Enrichment Opportunities:

Our High School Enrichment Program Special Classes are specifically designed for students grades 9-12.

* High School Students must pre-register for all classes including tutoring.

Spanish Language & World Culture with Ms. Munro

Beginning in February students can polish their Spanish speaking skills and explore culture in ways that school time often does not allow.   Classes are Tuesday & Thursday from 3:30-4:30 in Ms. Munro's classroom.

Pre-registration is required and cost is $25.00 per student
Minimum enrollment - 15 students, Scholarships may be available

 

Metal Twisting and Jewelry Design with Lee Ann Forrester

Looking to pick up an additional 1/2 credit toward graduation?
Successful completion of this 12 week course offers 1/2 credit toward graduation. Classes will run Monday - Wednesday after school.

Pre-registration is required and cost is $50.00 per student
Minimum enrollment - 15 students

 

Youth Advisory Council

Be part of making La Pine a better place for students! Plan dances, gaming nights, dodgeball, art exhibits and other fun activities for the youth of La Pine. Meets every other Friday from 3:00-4:30 at the La Pine Event Center.  Begins Friday January 27th, 2012.

 

Volunteer!  

Enjoy helping others?  Volunteer students are wanted for various activities helping middle school students in the community school program. Peer Mentoring, Games leaders, Crafts directors and more! Middle School Enrichment Opportunities:

Many opportunities exist for our middle school students at the Event Center Monday - Thursday after school until 5:30 pm.
Daily activities are planned as well as weekly class offerings designed to enrich and grow students in new skills. All for only $20.00 per month!

Many new classes are on the horizon.  Check back here often for new opportunities, class updates and schedules.

Call to check availablitity of Jewelry and Metals Basics, Beginning Survival Skills, Girls Circle, Crochet for a Cause, Gym Games, Zumba, Nature of Words and Singing/Vocal Lessons!

Beginning February 3rd, Wednesdays are going BIG!

All this and so much more including use of our pool table and foosball tables coming to Wednesdays.  Included in monthly registration or drop in just for the day at $5.00 per visit. To help maintain safety of students registration forms / signed permission slips will be required.

 

Lego Robotics

Starting February 9, 2012. Build with Legos and learn how to make them move!  Students getting involved in this program will be prepared for competitions to come in the Fall.   It's an opportunity your student will not want to miss! Maximum Enrollment - 15 students. Premium class fee will apply at $35. There is a $5 discount to student enrolled in CSP.

Thursdays at 3:30 pm to 5:00 pm at the La Pine Event Center.

Tutoring and Homework Assistance

Our tutoring assistance center is now open Monday - Thursday from after school to 5:30pm at the La Pine Event Center
Students can come and work in a quiet, safe environment to complete homework and get some extra help with our certified teacher Niki Redenius. 


Students enrolled in tutoring only will receive free instruction and a nutritional after school snack. Registration is required.

Additional activities are available in the Event Center for students who wish to stay after tutoring and homework is complete at $20.00 per month. Some scholarships may be available.

 

Volunteer!

THE COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PROGRAM NEEDS YOU!

The District has an immediate opportunity for volunteers to work with middle and high school aged youth to start our Community School Program.  Volunteers are needed from 2 pm to 6 pm M-F.  If you are interested, please call the Office at 541.536.2223 and ask for Lynn, Community School Coordinator.  

The Community School Program is an after school enrichment program for middle school and high school youth.  Activities will include a small snack, homework help, Skateboarding class, Cooking, Photography Club, Zumba, Robotics and many more options to come.
