Kenpo Karate!

Physically, Kenpo Karate is an art of self-defense that enables one to defeat their opponent by administering a strike or kick to the vital areas of their opponent’s anatomy. Mentally, it is a defensive study that cultivates the explicitness of serenity and tranquility, which promotes the betterment of personality and mind. Spiritually, with the understanding of discipline through rigorous training, the coordination of mind and body function to create a better self. In the physical of Kenpo, the student is bound to humility and self-restraint.

During the course of training with the La Pine K.J.B.A., our intentions are to acquaint each student with the proper physical mechanics of each defensive technique. Teach each student the science of schooling violence properly, so they can understand the differences in its usage. In each student’s progress of instruction a philosophy will be instilled that deals with the structure of personal accomplishment and proper etiquette.

Classes are held at Finley Butte Community Center on Mondays and Thursdays. Junior Classes are from 6 pm to 7 pm (Age 4-12) and Senior Classes are from 7 pm to 8 pm (Age 13 and up). Call Joe Pace for more information at (541) 419-7975.

LPRD Soccer

La Pine Park & Recreation District Soccer will have youth soccer sign ups at the Community Easter Egg Hunt on April 3rd from 11:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the White School Complex. Sign ups will also occur at the La Pine High School Gym enterance on the evening of Thursday April 7th from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00. The cost for the program will be $40 and will include a team t-shirt and medal for each participant. The youth will be divided based on grade level. K-2, 3-4 & 5-6. k-2 will be co-ed and 3-6 will be seperated by gender as well.

Practices will start the week of April 26th with games beginning the week of May 10 and ending the week of June 7th. We rely on volunteer coaches to make this program happen. If you or someone you know would like to coach a team please have them call Justin Cutler, Director of Parks & Recreation, at 541.536.2223 or if you would like more information on the soccer program.
